Soft Spring Day

I began this painting after 9:00 this evening, so my dilemma continues on how to get a good indoor photo. I will get a better one outside tomorrow. I find myself wishing for an overcast day! The main thing is I got a painting done and the project is well underway... I'm 1/6th of the way there.

* update: This is a better photo now... I did get the overcast sky I wished for this morning.... and rain! Sorry Saskatoon!

Does your camera have the option for you to adjust settings according to the ambient light (sunlight, shade, incandescent, etc)? That might help with the indoor shots. Love the new series so far.

Wow! Those clouds are wonderful. I love the colors and I especially love the strokes.

If your camera has a white balance option it could be useful to your needs. Its book would help you explore the option if its available. What I do is shoot in my studio where I have both cool and warm lights 'thrown' at the ceiling and reflected down. If the colors are not quite right I can adjust in Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements). Also, since I paint with acrylics and the paint dries quickly, I am able to use my scanner for the smaller pieces.

It looks like this 30 days of painting is not only going to be a good exercise to stretch your painting skills, but also one to stretch your camera skills. You gotta' love it!

Good question, Judy, I'll have to get my book out. Thanks,

Nicki

Hi Don,

I'll check my book for the white balance thing. And thanks for the tip on how you shoot in your studio. I'll have to play around with some things. I don't have Photoshop and I'm not sure my brain could handle learning something else just yet.... Facebook and Networked Blogs has my brain sufficiently overstimulated at the moment!!! Ha! The scanner is something I never think of, but will try to the next time I use my acrylics.

Thanks for your comment!
