The storm is breaking up at day's end, the setting sun is glowing through the parting clouds and, although the wind has died and the whitecaps are gone, the water is still very choppy.

The title again comes from an Elton John song. It is part of a line from "Your Song" which is one of my favorites. My cousin used it as her wedding song when she married her husband about 20 years ago. Now that I have my two boys I always think of them, and yes, get teary, when I hear the line "I hope you don't mind that I put down in words, how wonderful life is while you're in the world". At the concert last night Sir Elton told me (and about 14000 others) that the album he has out right now will be his last. He is not doing another one. The world has been lucky to have been given the gift of the music he and Bernie Taupin created together.

This is quite an impressive sunset! I love your rich colors. Keep on rockin' these little jewels!!!

My wife and I saw Elton John when he was performing at Caesars Palace a couple years ago. I had always enjoyed his work, but seeing him live really makes it even better. The video he showed while performing Daniel was one of the most touching pieces I've ever seen, and made me appreciate that beautiful song even more. My personal favorite of his is Tiny Dancer... You're right, we have been lucky to enjoy his gifts.

Hi Don,

Thanks! I've never generally been into painting sunsets, but when I was looking through my photos I found some spectacular ones I took a couple of summers ago. I thought I would give it a try.

I don't know how I forgot mentioning Tiny Dancer! He did a great job of it and as he sang I was thoroughly entertained by two guys in the front row who were basically performing along with Elton. Tiny Dancer was clearly their favorite and it was a treat to watch them enjoy it so.

Wow! Kim! Thank you!

Thank you, Shannon. I've never seen him before either and I am so happy the opportunity came up. I owe my friend big-time for picking me as one of the ones to use a ticket... and it only cost me $25.00!!!

Bummer... My excellent comment from this post was lost in the Google explosion. I won't even try to remember what I wrote other than how much I enjoy this beautiful sunset and seeing Elton John in concert.
