Secrets of the Sinking Sun

Secrets of the Sinking Sun

available at Webster Galleries

I'm pretty excited that this beauty has arrived safely in Calgary at Webster Galleries. The photo shows the painting well, but in person this piece will immediately transport you to your favourite memory of an evening at the lake. The glowing light on the water is magical and a feeling of calm will wash over you.

I love the moments of connection when I deliver work to my galleries, so it feels weird to send boxes by courier. Phone calls are the next best thing and I am so happy Paula and the team at Webster's are enthusiastic about the two new pieces they just received. Tomorrow I will show the other painting and if you are in Calgary, please stop by to check them out.

I love this clear, blue evening sky. The Milky Way is starting to appear and in a couple of hours the blue will deepen and there will be nothing but a sea of stars above.

I love building up early layers in acrylic and this time I left a lot of them exposed. I like the depth it creates in these two paintings. The different palettes give off different moods.

This painting makes me happy: the fresh greens, the hint of the road on the left, the puddles in the field, the loose marks. It was one of Darrell's favourites in the new batch of 8x8's for the landscape show and that always makes me happy, too.

We woke up to a of of snow today. The scene in this painting will be a good reminder of things to come again next year.

Time to Celebrate!

Yesterday I put up this image on my Instagram and Facebook pages with the following:

I am grateful and I feel like celebrating!

On Monday, October 14th I will post the colour version of this brand new original 10x10 oil painting, "Follow Me", and the details for my FIRST EVER DRAW!

I started my blog ten years ago when I was painting very little and all of the art-related baby steps since then have led to a recent milestone: the launch of my website!

An overwhelming factor in persevering for these ten years has to do with the support I have received in all the forms it has come to me. I am extremely grateful for those who have: written encouraging words through texts, DM's and comments; attended my art shows; shared their knowledge and expertise with me; given me valuable critiques on my work; told their friends and family to check out my art; helped me through the inevitable low points; and of course, those who have purchased.

This painting is a symbolic nod of gratitude to those who follow me and I want someone to win it! Come back on Monday to see the painting in full colour and to find out how to enter!
