January Road Trip

On New Year's Day my family and I went on a road trip to Edmonton. As we listened to the Top 100 countdown of 2012 I was busy taking photos of the passing landscape. There was a small skiff of snow on the ground, just enough to reflect the deep blue colour of the late afternoon sky. There was such an ethereal glow happening... I am going to play with the idea some more- could get abstract.

As an aside, the kids felt that Stereo Heart by Gym Class Heroes should have been #1, but alas (to my delight) it was Adele's "Someone Like You".

I'm with you -- I love the colour, light and mood in this. And agree with your choice of song. All the kids at school are upset about Adele's decision to back off from her career. I agree with them too.

I love Adele so much, but if slowing down a bit keeps her centered and sane I think she should. There have been too many artists lost to the dark side...

I loved your post about your father. Very touching.

Beautifully done, Nicki! The painting has a natural and relaxed feeling to it - like it flowed quickly and easily from your brushes to the canvas. I agree with you about Adele. She deserves ALL the accolades she's received from "21". It's pure art.

Thank you Don, and yes, this one flowed quite freely although still took a bit longer then I might have liked.

I love Adele and her album, "19", is excellent too.

It's pretty much impossible to take that road trip without completely exhausting the camera batteries. : ))

Nicki - I need some advice on postable displays. Can you call me this whenever you have time in the next few days? My number is in the book under my name. ;)

Yup, definitely don't want to forget the battery charger... or else the actual holiday would not be recorded!

I'm calling you soon...
