#27 - Grasslands in October

This one is all about the grass; the silver Wolf Willow moves to supporting role in the horizon. I had lots of fun with the movement and patterns again. I'm feeling pretty excited about how the last four paintings have turned out- they look really great together.
As a side note, I took the kids to the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo this afternoon. It was sunny, but luckily cool so many of the animals were out. Both boys like animals, but Tommy, in particular, is a huge fan. He cracked me up because the two Grizzlies bored him completely, but the wild squirrels had him giddy with excitement! I took some photos of the blossoming trees and duck ponds (there were tons of baby Canada Geese- too cute), so I may use them for the last few paintings in this project.

Oh how I love living life through the eyes of a child. It keeps us young at heart.
I can sense the joy you were feeling when painting "Grasslands". I too love the movement and patterns. I'll bet all four of these DO look great together. They are some strong pieces.
If I may be so bold, I do have one observation... I feel that the green v-shaped swirl which is exactly in the center catches my eye and makes the whole composition feel like it's spiraling towards it - almost like a vortex. Does that make sense? (Please, let me know if I've overstepped.)

Yes, children do make us feel young at heart... unless they are babies that don't ever sleep and then they make us feel very, very old!!! He he!
That is funny you mention the spiraling vortex... and I don't mind at all because I trust your eye. I actually already fixed that area because I saw it too! So what I am saying is it was even more intense than it is now! But if you still see it... I will tweak it!

I think Tommy and I would get along fine. I go to the zoo quite often and while I particularly like getting shots of the big cats, wolves, and the bison, what gets *me* really revved up is when the chickens are out and wandering in the bushes. No such thing as too many chicken photo ops.

Hi Judy,
I love walking around the park as well. The roosters were out in full swing and the male peacocks were really strutting their stuff. Another of our favorites were the two baby goats.
