(30 paintings in 30 days- Project II)

I tried to work fast and loose with this one. It was fun. I still can't get the paint as thick and sumptuous as Tom Thomson did back in his day. Can you imagine how long it would have taken for some of his paintings to dry? At least I can use my walnut alkyd and it will be dry in a few days.

I hung the show today with my Dad and my good friend Bridget Aitken (who is an amazing painter, sculptor, singer, songwriter, Jack-of-all-trades). It looks amazing! Way better than I imagined. I really couldn't picture how we would showcase Dad's bowls and other woodwork, although I had some ideas. Bridget was a huge help because she is used to curating her sculptures plus she has a really great sense of aesthetics. As it turned out the bowls and my paintings really compliment each other. Please come if you can! Here is the invitation...

And a few teaser photos...

It's such a sweet little gallery. There are several paintings in the show that I have never posted before (like the one over the fireplace), so I will be writing about those over the next couple of weeks. More pictures of the show coming this weekend...

I would love to be there. I adore the whole idea, the sentimental, gushy love side, and the cool artistic wonder side. Amazing. Love your work, and your world view. Great painting today too. Give Tom a break. You are just as good.
