This is the third and final sky painting I did in the studio last week. It happens to be my favorite of the three. I'm lovin' how it turned out, if I do say so myself! And even though this is going to sound repetitious, I love the Cadmium Orange ground peeking through. I'm trying to picture it in my mind's eye if I had just worked on a white canvas. I think without those hits of orange it would be a bit dullsville.
And now for a teensy update... CBC TV is coming to interview me at the studio tomorrow! They are excited about the International Women's Day collaboration I am involved in and want to tape a story (is that the lingo?) before my work, "In My Aura", is sent to AyrSpace in Ontario. I may not sleep tonight! I have never done anything like this! Please, let me not have anything in my teeth.... and please, let me not have the twitching eye that has been driving me crazy lately!

This is so great! You'll do fine!
My advice is take a sleeping pill. How exciting! You'll be great. I hope you let us know when it will air.
You rock. Your work is fantastic!
Wow.
Congratulations,
XOBarbara
hey Nicki, these skies are great! lots of energy and a cad orange ground is daring and it works!
and best of luck at the interview (ps last time i took a sleeping pill was when i was a kid and had an exam at university ...felt so unwell the next day, never again;)
Oh, Nicki!!! This is all super! I love all 3 of the skies - they are full of interest and movement and just so wonderful.
And the CBC thing ... you're going to do just fine. You are always so poised and well-spoken; you have nothing to worry about. I, on the other hand, would blather on and on about things totally unrelated (remember the infamous "I parked underground" fiasco?!?!) and get flustered and giggly!!! You know I would!!! I don't have any advice other than to be yourself ... and isn't there advice about "picture them naked"?!?!?!? That doesn't seem quite right, but whatever works!
Love you so, so much!!

Nicki - I hope the interview went off well. I'm sure it will have been fine!
And I think I like that last painting the best of all your sky/cloud paintings!
Hi Pam,
Thank you! I did it - and it was fine!
I didn't realize that you were part of the collaboration as well! How terrific! I love your piece.
Nicki
Thanks Barbara,
I didn't take the sleeping pill, and didn't sleep well, so maybe I should have! But I managed and I think it all went okay. Britainy Murphy was a wonderful interviewer- she made me feel really comfortable.
Your work is fantastic and I am so excited I will get to see it and you in person soon!
Nicki
Hi Rahina,
I'm glad you like these skies- the cad orange seems a natural to put under the blue and blue grays that naturally get used when painting a cloudy sky. I like the energy it gives. Have I mentioned that before? :o)
I didn't do the sleeping pill last night... I have no idea how it would have effected me... but a glass of wine before bed tonight sounds like a great idea!!!
Nicki
Hi Buddy,
Whew! It went okay, but after watching myself I feel I move my mouth weird. Ah, there is always something to be paranoid about.
Thanks for all your support!
