Working Hard or Hardly Working

photo © Nicki Ault, 2016

I seem to be having a bit of a difficult time getting into a schedule at the studio, but this past week I spent some quality time there, if not quantity. Some great progress was made and I am anxious to get back and continue working on my canvas of the Kingsmere River. Hopefully this weekend. You can see my chaotic table set up with paint, brushes, palette and photo reference and little 6x6 study on the easel. The computer was there acting as a slight distraction when the WiFi was actually working (darn Facebook), but mostly adding inspiration to my work by playing a great list of music. I hold out hope that March will be my month to work hard because so far this year I feel like I have been hardly working.

Your table looks so incredibly tidy compared to mine, which I
tried to begin tidying today! I've just finished reading
Danny Gregory's Shut Your Monkey, and he promotes honouring
your down time. And honestly you haven't had any! I just keep
being blown away by everything you do. I feel like yelling
Wahoo when I open each image even if it's the middle of the night.
I'd love to talk soon.

XOXOXOXOXO Barbara

Hi Barbara, I will have to look into that book. Maybe I have been working harder than I realized. This week I found myself going back to bed in the day and reading - even dozing off. I have a lot to do before I am ready for the show at the Faculty Club and to send new paintings to the Black Spruce Gallery for the summer, so that is weighing on me.

I would love to talk soon too.

Hugs, Nicki
