Feelin' Sketchy Saturday

Four
pencil on paper
© Nicki Ault, 2012

I couldn't go to the Saturday drawing session today because of two hockey games and a wrestling practice. I was the driver not the participant, in case that wasn't clear! :)  I worked on this for about three hours this evening... and I am tired! It doesn't necessarily look like the little fella it is meant to, but I figure it must look like someone out there! The eyes are too close together and, seen in the photo, look too dark - dang! And there are various other things that aren't right, and yet, I'm content with it. Or I'm too exhausted to care. Either way. I'll do better on the next go around.

I can't believe he will be ten next month!

Hey girl hey,

Quit knocking yourself! This is a beautiful drawing. Oh my they do grow up so fast.

I love those moments of nostalgia in the midst of our busy lives. They make us realize how lucky we've been, and send us back to the present more aware of what we have right now.

HI Barbara,

Self deprecation is my way. :)

It is pretty good, but I know what the cutie looks like and I know the sketch is not right... so that bugs me.

I am feeling nostalgic for sure now that he will be turning ten. I'm even finding myself looking at babies with longing! Yikes!

XO Nicki

Your sketches are lovely. Looks like you do them on Saturdays... but you could post them on "Sunday Sketches" if you feel like it. You just add your name and a link to your post (not your blog) on Sundays. It's fun. I think it's at :

p.s.
thanks for the 'like' over at DPW facebook page.

Hi Nora,

Thank you, I appreciate those words especially coming from such a skilled "sketcher"! I have had the goal in the last several months to work on my drawing skills and so I have been trying to attend a drop-in live model drawing session on Saturday mornings. If I can't get there I try to draw at home. I will check out the link you mentioned... thanks!

And you are welcome for the "like"!
