For the last few days I haven't been able to get a quote out of my head; it will just pop into my mind at random moments. You probably know it, the one from Dirty Dancing when Patrick Swayze's character says "No one puts Baby in the corner". Good stuff. Well tonight when I arrived to set up my wall at Gardenscape I was met with a bit of a surprise... the walls were not assigned as I had expected. It was first come first served which apparently everyone knew but me! Ha! I started walking around the area and all the boards were taken. I honestly thought that maybe they miscounted and that they didn't actually have enough walls and that I was going to be out of luck. I literally got to the far end by the corner facing a wall with bad lighting and finally found an empty one. And what popped into my mind? "No one puts Baby in the corner!" Well, I started giggling- I really cracked myself up with that one- and I am pretty sure the sweet couple setting up their wall nearby thought I was a bit nutty. Anyway, it's all good, somebody had to go there and I was pleased with how the paintings looked. I just hope people walk all the way down and discover my work.
So many beautiful flowers everywhere... and the smell! Mmmmm.
And when I got outside after setting up I was met with a little miracle of a sky...

they are looking great! and with your positive outlook Nicki, there is always a solution. Good luck with sales!
btw are those flowers growing outdoors? They look wonderful.
Oh Nicki - I had no idea either. Last year, I was last in and had a spot way at the end. This time, I was early and saw people picking boards. I had a moment of panick - the lighting sucks for some. I also had to rearrange everything on the spot with the artist signs being in the opposite corner. lol
Your display looks terrific! You need to shoo people into your corner to see when you are there. Plus - the people who want to buy art will look at EVERYthing. I"m sure...
: )

Thank you Rahina... you gotta roll with it I guess! Hopefully people do a full loop through and look at all the boards. It is what it is. My main goal is to get tons of business cards into people's hands.
Those are real flowers!!! There was a gorgeous display right in the front entrance. I'm looking forward to wandering around when the whole exhibition is set up.

Hi Monika,
I probably have the spot you had last year which I know went well for you, so maybe it will be okay for me too. When you are volunteering tell people to check me out! ;O) (I will do the same of course!) I was thinking maybe I will wear one of those mining hard hats with a light on the front so I can illuminate my board better when I am volunteering! Ha!
And yes, I had to rearrange my layout too because the Bio and business card holder were not where they said they would be. I felt like I was on an episode of The Apprentice when curve balls are thrown at the situation and you have to think on the spot!

Looking great in the corner. It won't matter at all. I was once hung in a cupboard! True. You can't keep a strong artist down.

Hi Barbara,
Oh my goodness! You made me smile! In a cupboard! I have to hear that story.
Thanks!
Nicki
P.S. You would love all of the fresh flowers!
Looking good, Nicki, and I'm sure you'll do well!
(But what a shock to think you might have missed the boat after all the work of preparing!)
Thanks Judy! Yes, my heart started to race a bit!
