Painting The Landscape At Darrell Bell Gallery

Here is your invitation to the third annual Painting The Landscape show at Darrell Bell Gallery!

I have been hunkered down like crazy lately. August was definitely an eat-paint-sleep-repeat month. However, I feel like the work was all worth it - there isn't a dud in the bunch! I love the painting they used for the invitation above. "Deer Bed" is a 20x20 based on an 8x8 I did earlier this year.

Below is a photo of the back-sides of all of my August paintings with sizes listed! I cannot believe how much I accomplished. Mind you, I did have a few under-paintings prepared before we went on family holidays in July, so those were ready to go when I started painting in August. The 10x10's are already at Assiniboia Gallery and the 6x6's replenished the wall at Evrgreen Coffee and Food in Waskesiu.

I'm delivering five new large paintings to Darrell Bell Gallery today for the big show opening next weekend. I have at least four new large paintings and four additional new 10x10's (in progress now) going to Regina on Friday to replenish Assiniboia Gallery and for their booth at Art Now Saskatchewan Art Fair happening in two weeks. I have a new batch of 8x8's building at the studio which will be delivered next week to Darrell Bell Gallery to refresh the grid in time for the weekend.

Whew!

And to top all of that off, I have been quietly working on another project that I will reveal in a matter of days. I cannot wait!

Please stay tuned and thanks for your patience as I haven't been posting much lately.

It's the July long weekend! The kids are done school and two months of (relatively) unstructured time is here! I am always SO ready for our days to be a bit more lazy, to not have to make sure there are groceries in the house for bagged lunches, which half the time don't get eaten at school anyway. My kids need time to recuperate. They are good students and work hard to earn good grades, they are active and committed to their sports. They set a pretty heavy pace for themselves during the school year and on top of that... they are growing which has GOT to be exhausting. Sleep and rest and free time are needed.

I, on the other hand, need to get more active and can hardly wait to get busy painting some of the spectacular photos I have taken recently!

Some of my recent paintings are available again at Evrgreen Coffee and Food this summer. I am thrilled to be back for another season and hope you will pop in for a delicious coffee and take a minute to view my art! Last year it was a real treat getting photos from people who took pictures of my art on the wall at Evrgreen, or in some cases, selfies with my art. Super cool! Let me know if you get there and what you think. Here are some of the paintings you will find there and more will be posted tomorrow...

This is one of my newest paintings... an enlarged and more panoramic version of an 8x8 I did for Darrell Bell Gallery. I just love the light!

I have a new northern venue for my work! This painting, along with some of my other medium to smaller works can be found for the summer season at Evrgreen, Waskesiu's one and only coffee shop! I am pretty excited about it - I have always wanted to have my work in this location, but it never materialized with the former owner. Last fall, when I was on my yurt retreat, I spoke with the new owner and she was immediately enthused, so we kept in touch and voila! I hung my work on Friday!

I love this province and country so much and it seems fitting I tell you about it on Canada Day! Hopefully the work I show here will be well-received by mutual Saskatchewan lovers.
