Ugh, I hate it when I don't get a good photo. I finished this one in the evening and then had to get it delivered the next day. Because I try to take my pictures outside on overcast days, I am really hooped when I need to take a photo and those particular conditions are not available to me! I know, I know, there are other options, but I have still never gotten quality results taking photos of my art any other way. That and I guess I am a creature of habit- I find something that works and I stick to it. Anyway, my fingers are crossed that as of now I may have a solution. I have been looking at a little kit for a year (I am not exactly what you would call an impulse shopper) and finally bought it. It is a portable photo studio! It will be perfect for my little paintings, both the 8x8's I am doing for Lifestyles by Darrell Bell Gallery and also the 6x6's I paint for my daily painting projects. This way when I need a good photo ASAP I will not be weather dependent.

For "Wind Song" I used the same resource photo I used to paint "Bright Prairie" and "Fall Palette at the Grasslands"

It is hard to find the right light and have it all the time! My new camera ha made it easier, but still - some days seem bluer than others. Right on Nicki! That's funny about the impulse shopping. Hope today was fabulous for you! : )

Lovely painting, Nicki - seems to have more movement than usual. Not that there's anything wrong with 'usual', just thought I detected a new development?

Monika, your new camera looks fantastic! And, yes, especially at this time of year I find the light can be very blue. I find I have to take my photos right in the middle of the sunlight day... but when there is only between 6 and 7 hours of sunlight that leaves a very small window of time (around 1:00 or so) to get a non-blue picture. I'll let you know how my little photo studio works!

Hi Judy, thanks. I'm not sure if there is anything new happening- I might have just been working fast! :) I'm really trying to budget my time on these 8x8's.

I'm home (for the 5th day in a row) with a sick little fella, so I hope to catch up on some blogs. I'll be coming your way soon!
