Fall Foliage On Meewasin

Here is my first official painting of 2013! I began working on it late last November right before the Open Studio and it has been in progress ever since. My jaunts to the studio have been sporadic and any painting I did in December was focused on the 8x8's for Lifestyles by Darrell Bell Gallery. It feels good to have a large piece completed. This one was a challenge because it was done in fits and starts; I never really seemed to get in a rhythm with it. To draw a parallel with my life, that is how I have felt the entire month of January- I have not found a rhythm and this month seems eternal! When will it be over? I honestly thought this Friday was February 1st! Ack! Still another week of January!?!

Love this painting, and am sorry January has been so slow. To me it seems like it is running away with itself. Lovely, lovely painting.

Only three weeks as of yesterday to Valentine's Day, so if your rush to February is about chocalate, don't worry it's coming.

i think this is a wonderful painting despite your dislike of january... if it is any consolation, i'm not too keen on january or february ... for some reason they are difficult months.
and i am amazed at the size it is in real life. i hope we get to see it in its new home when you sell :)

Hi Barbara,

Oh boy, I honestly thought yesterday was the first day of February and then I realized I still had a week to go! It's like January is a month that will never end.

I'm happy you like this painting. I wish I took more photos that morning. I am running out of compositions!

Hi Rahina,

Thanks for your kind comments on this painting.

Yes, January is a tough month and so is Feb. but at least it is a bit shorter. I think I am anxious for January to end because then we are closer to the daylight hours getting longer. It is such a dark time of year.

Hope you are well and I love your recent work! Well done!

To be able to paint this scene in January requires Talent! You have captured warm beauty in a dreary month. Beautiful!
