After I took the kids to school yesterday I was drawn to the gorgeous morning light. The sunrise was so beautiful I had to drive straight out of town to take pictures. Of course by the time I got away from buildings, traffic and street lights some of the magic was lost, but I still managed to get a few shots. The colours were so soft and dreamy. To the south-east there was a long band-like cloud that was dark against the crisp blue sky, but faded as it went up. The bottom of the cloud had these wispy little tendrils coming down that added to the softness of the overall scene.
On another note, we went to the family skate night at the school yesterday which was tons of fun and the weather couldn't have been better. However, let me just say that you know you are in bad shape when you go skating and the next day your forearms are sore!!!

I would do well just to skate on my feet. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to skate on your hands!
You captured that January Sunrise beautifully. Those tendrils are just the way you described them.

Beautiful. I could never get this much beauty in such a small space.
Hi Don,
Yes, it's a talent I've perfected... it's difficult to find a good pair of hand skates though!!! :o)
We have had some beautiful skies this winter... another just this morning. Glad you like the tendrils.

Hi Maddyrose,
You are sweet for saying that... but I bet you could!

Love this -- and your description of the light. I can totally get it from your painting. Now please quit being so hard on yourself. Your forearms could be hurting from tension, or holding them strangely, or...painting!
You are not out of shape.

Hi Barbara,
I'm glad you like this one. It's simple and soft. I haven't painted many winter scenes.
Ha! I am a bit out of shape, but mostly I was just being silly. Actually I think my arms are sore because of how I landed when I wiped out!!!
XO Nicki
