This is another of the revamps I did last week. I really like it now, especially the water. I used my rubber scraping tool to scratch in ripples and it reveals some of the old paint from the original version. Me likey! Here is what the original painting looked like:

I had such a great weekend in Waskesiu. My dad arrived on Sunday and took me for lunch (thanks Dad!). I said to him, "When in my normal life can I paint three little paintings, get started on a large one, watch 3 movies (of my choice), read two magazines, go for a nice supper and a nice lunch... all within a 48 hour period and feel so relaxed??? And still get cleaning done!" That is just not how my world works. And don't get me wrong, I am not dissin' my life- I am so fortunate for all I have- my boys especially. I have to be clear about that. The truth is that if every day were a retreat it would not be special or even discernible from any other day. So it's all good... real good!

Me likey, too!
I'm glad you had such a busy, yet refreshing, retreat. You deserved it.

Thanks Don. We all deserve a weekend like the one I had. I highly recommend it.
It's beautiful, I'm not sure how much time has passed between the original and the re-vamps, but you look like you have come on as a painter, I love the colours, the light in your paintings and the texture. Makes me want to go and paint!
a stronger painting overall Nicki! i love the contrasts of land sky and water: you have caught the essence of each.
good to hear you had a fruitful and happy weekend overall:)
Hi Miss Robinson,
Actually not that much time has passed between the originals and the re-vamps. I did them in May. The thing is they were part of a daily painting project that I did for 30 days. Some days produced winners, other days not so much! But I posted the results regardless. It feels good to go back and tweak the ones that left me cold.
Thank you for your comment and come again,
Nicki
Thank you, Rahina. Yes, it is much better now. I never felt right before. And you are so right when you say there is more contrast between the sky, land and water. It didn't exist clearly enough before and that was one of my goals for improving it. I'm glad you think I succeeded. I especially love the water now.
I really loved my weekend... next time you are in Canada come my way and I will take you North!
Nicki
I'm so glad you had such a great time. Wonderful painting.

Thank you,Barbara. Someday I dream that you and M, K and T will come visit me and we will paint up north. Can you guess which IWC! bloggers I am talking about? Come to the prairies, I say!
