Big Announcement! New Gallery!

(I love this sign!)
© Nicki Ault, 2017

I am extremely excited to announce that my art is now represented by the beautiful Assiniboia Gallery in Regina! I have been busting to tell you, but have held back for over two months until it became official, which happened on Friday.

In June I received a message Jeremy Weimer, the owner (with his wife Mary) of the Assiniboia Gallery, asking if he could come for a studio visit when he was in town that month. I was quite thrilled because I had heard really great things about them, so I was very much looking forward to meeting and talking with him. I have to say that, at least on my end, I felt we really clicked. Conversation was easy and interesting and we had a good connection over both the art and business side of things. By the time he left an hour or so later he said he would like to represent me!

The plan was that I would paint some new work which I would deliver in the fall, however, I received a text from Jeremy in early August with an upgraded plan. He thought a great way to introduce me as one of their new artists would be to showcase a few of my new paintings in their booth at Art Now - Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair. Yessir, I was on board with that! The catch? This new time-frame lined up exactly with the big landscape show at Darrell Bell Gallery! Eek!

I honestly don't know how I pulled it all off, but on Thursday I delivered seven new paintings to Darrell and Friday I delivered seven new paintings to Jeremy. Thank goodness I am not in one of my slumps right now! All of this has, thankfully, coincided with a period where I am so fired up to paint, I can hardly wait to get to the studio each day.

So there you have it. My big news is no longer a little secret. Life feels good right now!

P.S. I took some lovely resource photos on my road trip; the colours were glorious!

And just because I love it so much, another angle of the sign...

Art Now! Saskatchewan Fine Art Fair

This exciting second annual showcase of Saskatchewan galleries and artists is happening in Regina in two weeks. Last year it was held in Saskatoon and I believe the plan is to alternate between cities each year. As a juried member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council I was able to submit an application to have work shown in their booth and I am happy to announce that once again they selected some of my art. I believe they are exhibiting about twenty-five artists and fine craftsmen in their space. Below is what you will see from me:

The little 6 x 6 inch paintings are all framed in white shadowboxes and actually look lovely as a set, although they are individually priced.

If you live in Regina or will be there in two weeks, try to find time to check out this event. It was a real feast for the eyes last year and I am sure it will be just as impressive this time around!

An Exciting Weekend For My Art!

This weekend nine pieces of my art are debuting in two different events in two different parts of the country!

In Saskatoon a huge, new, first-of-its-kind art show is taking place over the weekend at Prairieland Park on the exhibition grounds. If you love art you will want to get there. Art Now: The Saskatchewan Fine Art & Craft Fair is a three day event and admission is free! You will find my four little 6"x6" paintings for sale at the Saskatchewan Craft Council booth at Prairieland Park (Hall B). I have them framed in lovely, chunky, white shadow boxes so they are ready to go home with you and be displayed immediately!

A couple of provinces over you can find the below five pieces of my art at A Square Affair in St. Catharines, Ontario.

This event sounds like a great time and is a part of the HandMade Market running on September 16 and 17 at the 13th Street Winery. All of the paintings by about thirty artists are 12"x12" and are going for the set price of $195.00 (+HST)! A Square Affair will be open for preview at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16 with a queue starting at 6:30 p.m. and doors to the sale opening at 7:00 p.m. It is first come, first served - I wish I could be there to watch it all happen. It could get crazy! I believe they are planning to keep any remaining work available and for sale in the gallery space on Saturday as well.

A great weekend for art, artists and art lovers! Please feel free to pass this information on to whomever might appreciate it... and have fun out there!

Saskatchewan Art Fair - It's Happening Soon!

I am excited to announce that my application was successful and the Saskatchewan Craft Council selection committee chose four of my small (framed) 6x6 paintings to be represented in their booth at the Sask Art Fair! It sounds like it will be an amazing show - the first of its kind ever to be held in Saskatchewan. Here are two links where you find even more information about this great event:

Mark your calendars! If you love art and fine crafts you will want to find time to get to Prairieland Park on this particular weekend. I know several of the artists whose work will also be available at the Saskatchewan Craft Council booth and I know you won't be disappointed with the offering (think Bobbi Clackson-Walker, Monika Kinner-Whalen and Paula Cooley to name a few). There will be booths showcasing many other Saskatchewan galleries and I can only imagine that this event will grow in the coming years.
