Orange Flower

I'm sitting here feeling a bit dazed... not really confused, just dazed. And excited... yes, definitely excited. And shocked..... and maybe also giddy! Yes, definitely giddy! I just won a painting in Ebay! I had put a "watch this" on it earlier today, but totally forgot. Then tonight when I went to check my emails I saw the reminder note, so I headed to Ebay and discovered there was 5 minutes left on the auction. A few currency calculations later, a bid at two minutes remaining, then some breath holding and the painting was mine! It all happened so fast and involved some pretty quick decision making- which is generally not my forte. An impulse shopper I am not. However, it really is a lovely little piece and the most exciting news might be who it is painted by... Duane Keiser! Woo hoo! This is right up there with my dream of owning an Edward B. Gordon. Duane Keiser is responsible for starting the painting-a-day movement in December 2004 when he decided to paint and post on his blog one small painting everyday. Since then many other painters have joined in this practice to varying degrees of success. Mr. Keiser no longer keeps up his daily painting practice (which lasted about 1 1/2 years); time has given way to new interests and painting adventures, but he still occasionally paints these small still lifes and auctions them on Ebay. I am so thrilled to now be the owner of...

Have a look at the links which will take you to his website and blog. At his blog click on "About" to read a bit more about him and to also read a wonderful quote he has included in his write up. He really is an inspiration to me for many different reasons.

And now I have to build back up my Edward B. Gordon fund.

Hi Nicki,

I actually found you through Edward B. Gordon, who is one of my all time favorite painters. So good for you.
Save your money, and I'm so happy for you.

Take care,

Hi Barbara,
Oh, don't we both have good taste to choose Edward as a favorite painter? :) Yes, I have to go back to the drawing board and start saving again and hopefully someday you will see an ecstatic post on my blog about me winning one of his auctions!

Thanks for swinging by to say "Hi".

Nicki i enjoy reading your posts, such a delightful sense of humour... and congratulations on taking the weight out of your purse and on to your wall. Duane is a wonderful artist as is Edward. r.

Hi Rahina,
Thanks for saying that. Sometimes the wording I use or what I have to say seems funny to me, but I am not always sure it translates. I'm glad you think it does.

Hi Nicki, I came to your blog through Chuck Dilmore's "Maiden Names and Half Moons." I had to see who this fun Nicki person is! I laughed at your comment on Chuck's post. And now, I've been to your blog. More fun! Believe me, I'm no artist whatsoever, and am envious of those with even an ounce of talent. But I love the Orange Flower and am so happy for you that you won it! I'll be back ...

Thanks, I'm glad I made you laugh and I am glad you found me!

Kim and I would love to come and see the exhibition of your work. Are you selling any of the pieces? I have some empty wall space that is crying out for an original Ault.

Hi Trevor!

What a great surprise to see your message. I will be sure to send you an invitation and if you are in town on November 8 it would be great to see you and Kim at the reception. The show will be up, however, from Nov. 1- Dec. 17. I think for the most part all of the paintings will be for sale and looking for a new home. Thank you so much for your interest in my work!
